A family of five from Stockton, two high school students and the owner of a Santa Cruz diving company are among the passengers of a boat that was engulfed by flames in Southern California. The deadly fire has sent shockwaves through the Bay Area, with most of the victims yet to be identified.
Officials have not formally named any victims, saying DNA samples might be needed to identify some of the remains. So far, 25 people been confirmed dead and nine others are missing but presumed dead after Coast Guard officials suspended their search for survivors Tuesday morning. Five crew members were able to escape the devastating fire.
Among those accounted for so far is a family from Stockton, including father Michael Quitasol, in his early 60s, and daughters Evanmichael Solano Quitasol, 37, Nicole Quitasol, 31, and Angela Quitasol, 28. Fernisa June Sison, Michael’s partner and the Quitasol daughters’ stepmother, was also identified by KCRA.
