There are a few (very few) who consider the Dorian mode an evil mode. While it does have a lot of Minor keys (which sound more melancholy) Some of our finest songs have been played in the Dorian mode. Scarborough Fair for one. Oye Como Va by Santana for another..

There is a whole world of scales beyond major and minor....
