While any studies of any breeds may say one or the other is more aggressive or docile, I have to state the obvious

A Pit Bull, or any large dog, is intimidating. Its large head is one thing, but it is quite muscular and has great strength. It was the result of different breeds like the Staffordshire which were bred for ring sports or hunting wild pigs. Wild pigs are notoriously vicious. A Pit bull can easily take a man down, kill him or send him to the emergency room. A child is nothing to them.

My point, is why do people need to have such monsters for pets. They are not adorable or nice to look at, they reflect people compensating for ego problems

It is very anti-social to have something like a small lion in a residential area. When they get loose (and I've seen that, they easily get loose) they rain terror down upon all who encounter them or much worse.

Waving a finger at "uneducated" people who do not understand does not diminish the fact, that owning these 'dogs' are like brandishing a gun, only the dog is far more unpredictable
