One thing I will tell you is that I'll not put a 'Welcome' sign or mat at my front door. I'm not sure why but it's always made me cringe.

Sometimes God gives permission directly. We can see clearly from the book of Job that God does occasionally give permission for Satan to work in someone’s life.
Bottom line – demons cannot enter into a person’s body without having some kind of legal permission and legal right to be able to do so. They need some kind of an entry point to be able to get in and attach to someone, and that entry point will be their door opener.

There are spiritual laws that are in operation in our world, and even demons have to abide by these spiritual laws.

The reason being is that God has given each one of us a full free will and He will never violate that free will that He has given to each and everyone of us.

And it’s the exact same way with demons. Demons cannot enter in on the inside of a person unless they do something specific on their end that will open up the door for them to be able to come into them. And that something specific will be their legal right.

For instance, if someone starts doing heavy drugs, certain kinds of porn, or starts to dabble in some area of the occult, and they do not pull out of it within a reasonable length of time, that person’s doors could then be opened up.

And this open door will now allow the demons to be able to come into that person’s life and from there, they will either try to get in on the inside of that person’s body if they can go that far with it, or they will try and attach to them from the outside, where they will then follow them around like a dark cloud trying to attack them as often as they can from that outside position.

Deliverance minister Charles Kraft, in his excellent book, “Defeating Dark Angels,” says that demons are like rats and they need garbage to feed on.

If you are doing drugs, then the garbage the demons are feeding on is the actual drug usage. And in order to be able to get set free from the demons, you first have to be willing to get rid of the garbage they are feeding on.

When we are fighting spiritual battles, the very first thing that we must do is to revoke the permission that has been given to these spiritual forces of evil.
