Good on you for pointing out the upstream logic, or rather the failure of their logic.

And it is also questionable, as to whether or not the population desired to establish a federal government at that time.

From the perspective of control-freaks and financial-junkies, they loved the idea of a federal government, as it is easier to put a yoke on the few at the top of the pyramid, than to herd a bunch of feral cats and dogs spread out all over the place.

The word "We" used in documents like the Constitution, serves to step over the question, of why. Why do we want to create more brick and mortar hierarchies, like a federal government? This is a distant construct, which is more difficult to control.

The problems it has caused over the years should evidence this fact.

It also disregards the individual. It immediately jumps to group think. It immediately makes the assumption, that everyone agreed to this idea. Its a blitzkrieg tactic. Its also a gas-lighting tactic. When was I, or you, asked to participate on this idea?

This is the behavior of a control-freak. They tend to force their will on others. And many people will go along with it, because they have yet to exercise independent thought. Group opinion is constantly being checked by these go along types of people. They operate on fear most of the time, so the safety in numbers idea motivates group think. And that is taken advantage of by control-freaks who just throw out the idea that everyone agrees with this wonderful form of potential enslavement, so fall in line!

We the people?

You mean a few men, conspiring, about the fate of generations of tax-donkeys, .. I mean, strangers?
