The article at https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/day-i-became-better-write-thanks-scott-adams-omar-m-khateeb/ balances on one short sentence, " Readers aren’t as smart as you’d think.", and in doing so invokes paradox.

Ethics, in simplest form, is the objective science of survival. Ethics is a completely separate item from morals and customs which are subjective. It is founded on the survival of the individual. If the individual survives then the family group and subsequent larger groups up to nations and the planet stand a better chance of survival. Again, this is simplest form.

The paradox is subtle in that if one presents for the weakest links in the chain then one necessarily degrades one's own chances of survival as well as chances for family and larger groups by subsidizing halt communication. It may seem like compassion or kindness but it's not.

Ever diminishing returns becomes a serious consideration when a populace at large becomes unable to comprehend a national constitution, or even simpler things such as Slower traffic keep right. Is there any wisdom in courting degradation or might wisdom be in holding to at least some minimal standard and letting the willingly weak links fall where they may?

To be fair there is a time for basic communication, but at some point it is nice if your children can demonstrate more than elementary ability.
