Tear Down This Wall—The Chinese Communist Regime

Dr. Wang was a former aide to Wei Jianxing (1931–2015), a member of the CCP Politburo Standing Committee from 1997 to 2002. Thousands of people, including lawmakers and human rights advocates, took part in the rally to call for an end to the persecution of the spiritual practice Falun Gong in China. July 20 marks 20 years since the Chinese communist regime launched its sweeping campaign to eradicate Falun Gong.

Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen.

On July 20, 1999, former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin out of selfish motives initiated a large-scale campaign to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, who follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Jiang believed that with the Party’s several million-person military and abundant monetary reserves, as well as decades of experience in persecuting China’s citizens, the CCP would be able to eradicate Falun Gong in a very short time.

However, 20 years later, instead of being eradicated, Falun Gong has spread to 110 nations and regions all over the world. “Zhuan Falun,” the main book of Falun Gong teachings, has been translated into 41 languages, and is published and distributed worldwide outside China. In the 5,000 years of Chinese culture, “Zhuan Falun” has been translated more than any other Chinese book.
