BATTLE FOR WORLD / SPUTNIK NEWS | July 3, 2019: In the ironic twist of things in the realm of secrecy regarding rumors of American and Russian submarines in battle off Alaska with missiles fired, here comes an article hours later with US Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein talking about a nuclear attack can be reduced in three steps, to be taken as fast as possible. These steps, he says, are designed for the destruction of incoming ballistic missiles, as well as planning a successful retaliatory strike.

On Tuesday (July 2), US Gen. Goldfein gave some insights on how the US should response on American soil if ever it was attacked with a nuclear strike. As an example, he used Russia due to the nation’s large nuclear arsenal, where he outlined three steps to be taken in case of an unlikely nuclear emergency, said Fox News.

Step 1:

Goldfein: “The first call will be the Supreme Allied Commander of Europe - General Tod Wolters - who will tell me what he needs to join NATO forces to halt enemy activity and blunt their objectives. By virtue of the speed with which air and space component deploys and employs, he expects us (US Air Force) to be the first to arrive at his (halt) and his blunt force.”

Reacting to the strike nuclear attack, the general proposed a massive air counterattack, using planes from F-35 and F-22 fighters to B-2 bombers. That the B-2 bombers would be used to destroy enemy air defences, nuclear launch sites, or even destroying entire cities.

And that NATO would come to rely on the Aegis missile defense systems placed in Europe, which the US repeatedly has said was built to counter an Iranian nuclear threat; rely on as well destroyers and cruisers placed closer to an enemy – in this case Russian territory. And hinted that the US and NATO would integrate in the coming years ship-based “lasers, electromagnetic railguns and hypervelocity projectiles”.

Step 2:

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) would be tasked with protecting US soil from ICBMs. And to do that it would use ground-based Interceptors (GBIs) assigned to discern warheads from decoys. Gen. Golfein said the US had successfully intercepted a test ICBM with a GBI some years ago, but that the interceptors are still being perfected.

Step 3:

Implementing the command to activate nuclear-armed submarines designed for a massive ‘second strike’ capability, to “ensure destruction of anyone launching a nuclear attack upon the US,” said Fox News.

And that with there three steps the US can achieve maximum protection against a nuclear strike.
