We who can see well understand the problem. The national 'company store' folks like Walmart, Publix and Kroger use in many cases the exact suppliers who use the same ingredients and are fed the same gmo ingredients by Pharma/Big Ag. Only the 'brand' is different.
These ingredients are most often the cheaper alternatives to conventional organic ones and of course, they win every time. Profit is of course a main part of the the game. A close second one is one of weakening people's health with pharma additives which of course allows pharma to sell cures for the disease they sold you.
That said, I have been shopping at ALDI now for more than 10 years. During that time I have noticed the disappearance of arthritis in my hands and knees, have had NO digestive problems nor suffered any sickness.
ALDI is different, They carry almost NONE of the conventional US stuff. 90+ percent of their products are sourced from the EU, mostly Germany.
Gemany and the EU have the strictest laws in the world which prohibit the use of chemicals and GMO in foods.
And, you appear to be a Chocolate nut like I am :) German/Swiss chocolate products are among the best. Should you visit one of their stores, you will be overjoyed that they are one of the only sources for NON-GMO foods in the Country.
The ALDI stores are 'inconvenient' for US shoppers. You will have to 'rent' a shopping cart.. (you get your quarter back when you return the cart)
You will have to supply your own shopping bags. (or use some of the empty boxes in store)
They accept cash or debit card only.
There are no pretty 'displays' to sell you crap... just shelves and boxes.
They have few employees.
All these things are strange to US shoppers, but common in Europe
They save money.
They have many of their own brand locally/US made products such as baked goods, chips and etc, and believe me they are every bit as good as any you will find anywhere.
They have fewer 'selections' of similar products, but they have virtually all product categories, from soup to nuts.. :)
Their chocolate things are a treat. I admit I am hooked on dark chocolate coconut toasted almonds... yum :)
I believe if you visit and read a few ingredient labels on cans and boxes you will be as hooked as I am. (NO added chemicals):)

There is a
: Hi, Folks -
: About a decade ago, a relative's health situation led to our
: shifting our diet from 'standard' to 'organic as much as
: possible' in a very short time.
: And that led to shifting from Publix and/or Kroger to Whole
: Foods, where I had to reorient my thinking on many levels.
: :)
: Some months (might have been years, dunno now) into our new
: food routines I spotted a packaged cookie that looked
: interesting, so I put a box into my cart and brought it
: home.
: It was Late July brand organic 'Decadent Chocolate' sandwich
: cookies. And they were awesome. :) Imagine Oreos redesigned
: by someone who actually loves and understands chocolate and
: you'd be close. :)
: But...it wasn't too long before they began disappearing from
: the store shelves. Why? Was it a local order problem? Was
: it some regional decision? Had the corporate office nixed
: them for some reason?
: No, as it turned out. I wrote to Late July to inquire - and
: the answer was that they had "lost their organic
: cookie baker". What the ...?
: Fast forward; years passed. One day I spotted another
: interesting item, Tasty brand organic "Chocolate
: Cake" sandwich cookies. I took some home. Not quite as
: great as the Late July ones but a pretty respectable
: "second place" replacement.
: It wasn't long till they, too, began disappearing from the
: shelves. And, they've been "currently
: unavailable" at Amazon for a long time.
: I've searched Internet but haven't thus far found a working
: site for the Tasty Brand company. I think they've gone the
: way of Late July's cookie baker.
: Anyway ... I'm wondering if someone bought up Late July's
: baker and all of Tasty Brand and simply shut them down,
: with thoughts like "Competition is sin" or
: "We really should focus on our core products", or
: something. The effect of that, however, is weirdly similar
: to a social media company's deciding diversity is a good
: thing while blocking or shadow-banning certain kinds of
: thought.
