Here's a short (37 secs) video of good ol' Nikita Khrushchev, doing his thing at the UN, about a month prior to the election that put JFK into office. Compare this leadership style with Putin's. :)

Things seemed a lot scarier to us in those days - no 'social media', so our only input was whatever was being given to us by print, TV, and radio media. JFK and Nixon were the two candidates; Khrushchev had previously been a 'commisar' of Stalin's.

This is the video of the Nikita Khrushchev shoe banging incident October 12th 1960, which was 3 weeks before the 1960 election in which JFK beat Eisenhower's VP, Richard Nixon. This was the "red scare".
