I am not sure why. They say they are checking farms in this area to make sure they are not in violation of pesticide storage laws. I don't think that is what they are doing.
They have taken soil samples and water samples at our house. (They wanted to take a second set, but I told them to get a court order. The judge refused to issue an order, saying one is enough. They can only get one sample at the area farms.) There are no pesticides stored at our house.
The people who live 4 miles north of us said the EPA was investigating the results of a pesticide spill, of over 1000 gallons, that occurred 5 years ago. No one knew anything about the spill.
All I know is our water is better than any bottled water you can buy. No chemical contamination, no bacteria contamination, no funny taste. Our son had giardia 3 years ago, so twice a year we do a deep well test. Our water has never had any problems, nor has anybody else's water in a 5 mile radius. I think that is a piece of the puzzle.
