Dear Esclarmonde,

Mr. Bond and I would agree with you that Jesus did not die to atone for humankind's sins. If that had been the reason for his death on the cross, then one would have to accept as fact a vengeful, bloodthirsty and punitive God — which we do not.

Rather, we believe that the point of Jesus' life here on Earth was to demonstrate in the flesh what God must be like. The perfect life of this Son of God echoes the perfect love of our Creator.

As for prayer and meditation, ultimately any attempt to connect with the spirit within is a step in the right direction.

Finally, as personal evolution proceeds step by step throughout eternity, so does planetary evolution. A period of Light and Life — in which no government is necessary — will come. Meantime, in a world so full of iniquity, the lack of a government shaped and hemmed in by laws could be disastrous. Think again on Orwell's "Nineteen-Eighty-Four." Remember that in this fictional future, there were no laws. In a world without laws (pre-Light & Life phase) the potential for tyranny and terrible abuse is unlimited. Thus, anarchy is as dangerous as anything one might imagine in such a time as this, subject to the prevailing mindset of the strong oppressing the weak.
