First, we don't "have" souls - we ARE souls: "And God breathed the breathe of life into his nostrils, and man became a living soul."

As human beings, with physical bodies, we also have "consciousness", which is _of_ the body - we wouldn't have this without the body it relates to.

Who we ARE is the one that can say, "I HAVE a body. I HAVE a mind or a consciousness. I HAVE a capacity of heart or of spiritual expression."

If Steiner's saying, "Ending the living of the body with potassium cyanide makes it difficult for the consciousness to dissipate," fine - I'd consider a possibility that he might be correct. But it isn't "souls" that continue to have existence. It's "who we really are" that does that - and who we really are is beyond the 'power' of earthly chemicals. :)
