: I'm wondering if you have any info on the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

The results of my search on the Knights of Malta was rather contradictory: their organization in this country does not seem to violate either the Constitution or state sovereignty. If a person professes an allegiance to a foreign Prince or Power, then they may violate federal law, but they must accept either a Title of Honour or Nobility (or prohibited emoluments), in order to risk losing their citizenship.

Yes it is credible, and I am told that he is a Knight. For many years I was a strong supporter of Buchanan, both as a Republican and as a member of the Reform Party in 1999-2000. In fact, I gave his chief political whip a copy of the Constitution from 1848 which included the original Thirteenth Amendment, as a gift to the man. Out of respect and admiration. I never, ever, heard one word from him or from his political associates again.
