I just searched Reuter's for keywords "clinton pardons". What I got was a long stream of hits, all mentioning Marc Rich.

I'm wondering if the "Rich caper" is just the distraction, clouding our awareness of something else. For example:

I'm hearing from various sources that Clinton pardoned Dr. Robert Gallo - this has been mentioned in a currently circulating Internet letter (about the Special Virus project), and a friend tells me he heard it quietly mentioned in the middle of national news one day.

Gallo is the one who, along with Margaret Heckler at a press conference in 1984, announced, "The _probable_ cause of AIDS has been found," and sent the world off on a neverending hunt for ways to combat a virus that began to be called "HIV" at about that time. (It had been known as Human Leukemia Virus III, I think, until that day.)

A day or two ago I searched sites of the White House, the DoJ, the Library of Congress, etc., and could find no mention of this pardon of Robert Gallo - which leads me to wonder, who else got pardoned, and why, while we're being focused on Marc Rich...?
