I think your (group's) definition of "European Americans" is badly flawed.

For one thing, it appears that Jews are excluded from the definition. I can tell you that all of my grandparents came from Europe, as did all of their parents and grandparents for many generations back. So am I not a "European American" as well?

How about Bosnians - they are from Europe, but are mainly Muslim. Would Bosnian Muslims be welcome in your group? How about Greek Orthodox? Catholics?

I haven't read the book you are discussing, but I expect I would agree with most, though probably not all, of it. Children do need to learn respect and tolerance for others, starting at an early age, and those who teach children to hate others because of the national, racial, or religious group they belong to do a grave disservice to those children, and to the world.

It is true that the meaning of the word "hate" has at times itself been distorted and misapplied to groups which simply promote ideas that the labelers find distasteful, but I am using the word here in its true English meaning. Hopefully any schoolteachers using this book will notice and point out the difference where need be.
