This [the refusal from Amnesty] is a form letter. I got that from Amnesty also -- In fact -- within a day. But people didn't stop. Someone -- a large donor -- was the one who finally succeeded in getting the call made to the jail, the prosecutor and the govenor.

I don't know if this is SOP --

I would ask if anyone is an Amnesty Patron -- or member -- more weight comes from these people. I would also ask the people from your church to get involved. A letter from a head person at United Methodist will go a long way.

I would say that at least a third of our readers are devout Christians -- we have to ask them to get their pastors involved -- this case does not involve one man -- it involved 5 -- and four are completely innocent -- Les knew the risks of going public -- his wife and children didn't.

There are hundreds of organizations that take on causes like Les's -- we have to try to contact them all. Again -- only an appeal to everyone on the list wil bring the information we need.

It is really a case of getting to the right people -- we need to figure out how to do this -- We need to appeal to all the radio people who get these emails -- they need to have someone who is familiar with Les's case on their program -- You -- me -- Mike Meehan -- Ian has the whole picture -- but I fear Les will get lost in the forest -- The best way would be to have Ian talk about 103 and either you -- me or Mike talk about Les - I wonder if Dr Berman would agree to do a show?

Don't give up hope on Amnesty -- I can still remember how I felt when they turned me down -- I sent them back a letter that must have been chilling to them -- frozen tears of pain and fear -- I received no response from the

second letter -- and then, about three days later, I discovered that phone calls had been made...
