I've seen Indian (Hindu) art depicting what, to my not very well informed eye, appeared to be geneologies of some of their deities, and every couple of generations there would appear a figure with blue skin. I think they were incarnations of Krishna(?).

Mark Seely, a few weeks ago, posted something about reptiles and simians. I replied noting that the Hindus have a simian deity named Hanuman - a heroic and intelligent actor in their pantheon.

In my reply I made what was probably an ignorant remark about the Hindu pantheon, saying that it struck me as something like the Marvel Comics Universe - people with super-powerful beings both good and evil.

I bring up the Marvel Universe again to make note that Marvel uses a number of shape-shifting characters to tell its stories. When in their true form, the shape-shifters seem to always have blue skin.
