There are at least a couple of specialized Mac software packages for setting up one's home machines as file servers. There's the much maligned (maybe justly so - vers 1.5 & 1.7) Hotline software (also available for IBM compatibles). Their site is http://www.BigRedH.com/index2.html

Deutch could have set his machines up to run as servers on either of these packages. With a static IP address and a proper login/password he or any one else having the package and administrator privileges could have accessed the Macs from anywhere on earth with an internet connection, also with the ability to delete, down & upload files.

I don't know if Deutch is another Chinese client like the rest of those in Clinton's administration. I do find it pretty interesting that he was using Macs.

I thought the Mac/Secret thing was about chips and motherboards. That may really have something to do with being able to operate them remotely and for nefarious purpose, but also the later mac's ROM - read only memory - can be updated (some Imacs, I think) like updating the flashram/rom firmware in some modems. Those sets of instructions required by the machine for startup and initial functioning may figure into the mix.

Is that Thornly (sp?) fellow worth contacting?
