Evacuates Headquarters Building Due to Fire After the many, many fires in
the recent past. And now, just like those fires that last year cleared out
key and top level secure areas near Los Alamos, Vandenburg, Hanford, and AEC
research labs in Idaho (and other related sites) , here is one more, of a
number now this year, that have a similar feel.

Just a few days ago half the Pentagon was evacuated with a fire and now CIA headquarters. Is there something we're missing about these fires? Could there be other functions?

..... What goes on when these premises are vacated and left empty? Yep, I wonder about these things.

This seems very strange to me... thousands of Pentagon workers were evacuated! I wonder what was REALLY going on!

Fire forces evacuation of thousands from Pentagon: officials

WASHINGTON, Aug 2 (AFP) -
A fire forced the evacuation of thousands of people from the Pentagon
Thursday but it was quickly extinguished by firefighters, officials said.

The fire started in a cable and spread about 30 meters (100 feet) through
ventilation ducts, which sent smoke through a wedge of the huge five-sided
building.

Seventeen fire companies responded to the alarm and put out the blaze in 10
to 15 minutes, said John White, battalion chief of the Arlington County Fire
Deparment.

About half of the building was evacutated, "which could be anywhere from
eight to 10,000 people," said John Jeter, chief of the Defense Protective
Service responsible for Pentagon security.

Firefighters arriving on scene thought the fire started in an industrial
clothes dryer at a loading dock used by the Pentagon cafeterias, Jeter said.

But on inspection, they found the fire started in the cables stashed in the
ceiling above the dryer, with the smoke traveling out of the building mingled
with the dryer's exhaust, they said.
