Gee, what did this VERY ILLEGAL system cost, do you suppose? A few billion dollars? Here is how collectively, worldwide, it can be made into mush:

Every e-mail program has the ability to add a 'signature' line at the end. This line can hold several words. Often people put in quotations or advertisements to be added automatically to every e-mail they write but we're going to use it to write Echelon 'love letters'. This is what we do:

1. Everyone who sends e-mail would click the box telling their e-mail program to attach this 'signature' to every e-mail they send out.
2. In the box for the signature text write in as many of the words you think Echelon LOVES to look for: For instance, assassination, president, vice president, gun, kill or any of the others on the list. (I know those words are picked up because I had one of my e-mails 'slurped'. I was discussing a theory regarding the year 2000 and Cheney's heart disease. When the person I had sent it to received it, the offending paragraph had been stripped and the e-mail typeface was about 2 sizes too small!)
3. Here is the key: If everyone were to do this so that every e-mail that went out had 'trigger' words in them, every e-mail would end up being tossed into the 'physical review' box. If you like make it a sentence. (Just be sure that you are not actually threatening anyone) This would overload personnel assigned to make the physical inspection regarding meaning. If this is entirely automated, which I find difficult to believe, it would cause all those e-mails to be reviewed by the system. That alone should be an interesting phenom.

The so-called Experts are probably right: Just doing it one day probably won't have a whole lot of impact because everybody won't know about it. But if 'everybody' did it every day, more and more people would become aware of it and add the sig line to their e-mails.

It may not be the answer to everything, but it IS one little thing we can do! It is time we started fighting back. And as we all know, there is nothing more vulnerable than communications systems!

What is really stupid about Echelon is this: If a terrorist is going to really discuss an assassination attempt, is he really going to just tell his buddy in Omaha without encrypting it a thousand ways to Sunday and sending it through anonymous e-mail programs? Do you really think Osama bin Laden sends out un-encoded e-mails about his activities? Come on! We weren't born yesterday! They aren't fooling us: Echelon is primarily a way to find out what BUSINESS competition is doing (where the money is); what governments are doing (where the money is); AND MOST OF ALL: TO CONTROL THE PEOPLE!!! (Make sure where the money ISN'T!)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADDING NETSCAPE MAIL'S SIGNATURE LINE:
1. Click on Edit

2. Click on Preferences
3. Click on Mail & Newsgroups
4. Click on Identity
5. Box will show up on right.
6. Go to 'Signature' line and type in words.
7. Click on okay.

You can also follow the instructions to add an entire file, if you so choose.
