I was raised Southern Baptist.. Our churches had missionaries all over the place too. Like you, I've often wondered why they didn't take care of 'home' first then spread out. The majority of mission work is to make money and get new converts to give money..

PS A very sad fact that is swept under the rug is that there are more poverty stricken whites (in the USA) then any other race.. However, as you said, it's not fashionable to mention that and is forgotten.

I was raised strict Catholic back in the 50's, I mention this as I am disgusted by their focus on Asia and Africa in their relief efforts

I will never understand the generosity toward foreigners that absolutely hate us. The charity campaigns to send money abroad when there are millions of homeless within our own country in the cities

Appalachia is a another prime example of people that are in desperate need of help and are totally ignored, not even rating a blip on the radar.

Guess it is not 'fashionable' to help people within our own country. And because they happen to be white, you risk being smeared as racist for pointing out they are American citizens that deserve our help.
