Back in April, a little noticed announcement on the Chromium Blog (the open source project which the Google Chrome browser is based upon) announced a change that is negatively impacting numerous websites this October.

After displaying a ‘Not secure’ badge on insecure sites where passwords and credit cards were entered back in January, Google took it a step further with the release of Chrome 62 in October. The browser now displays the ‘Not secure’ popup whenever someone enters any data on an insecure site.

Many may not realize they’re entering information on an insecure site but now that a pop-up alerts them to the fact, we’re sure to see many question their choice to submit that information. This will likely lead to less users completing submission forms on any site that hasn’t been secured.

If you’re seeing a drop in conversions and your site isn’t secure, there’s a very good chance this is the reason. So what’s the solution? Time to get secure.
