Jay says that the first step to alchemy is figuring out what is the material that you start with. It is in all life, and Earth is abundant in it. Understanding the science behind carbon dating is key to figuring it out.

He gives a lot of clues about the alchemical process, sharing a lot of books and authors to research.

He tells a great story about an alchemist and his student. Apparently there is a castle in the Pyrenees mountains where the alchemists have a secret society. They secretly bring local children there at night to learn alchemy, but they have to hide what they are doing, because the cabal wants their secrets and will do anything to get them.

The secret society hates the cabal and will not share their secrets with humanity, until the cabal is defeated. They send telepathic messages to people about how to defeat the cabal.

Jay says the story reminds him of Hogwarts, but it reminds me of the monks in the game Skyrim.

I looked up the story to get more details and now I am less enthused about making the philosopher's stone, because after you consume it you have to go through an agony for forty days and forty nights, when your hair and teeth fall out, along with your fingernails and then it all grows back. The story I found also says that people become more androgynous after the transformation. The story says the master was eighty years old but when his student saw him again, he looked like he was in his fifties.
