I don't believe for a minute that Trump wants to go to war - but neither does he want us to lead from behind and be pushed around by the likes of North Korea and Iran. Feckless Obama left a huge mess for Trump, and before him Dubya Bush and Clinton. The world cannot afford to have a nuclear Iran or North Korea - and I shudder to think of what may happen in trying to prevent that.

I suppose Oliver Stone would prefer a return to the days of Obama, where the rest of the world kicked sand in our face and military decisions were micro-managed by academic elites who have no clue about the military? It is the generals who should be making the decisions, it is what they have trained to do all of their lives. For the most part, I do not believe thay are the bloodthirsty creatures Stone seems to imagine them to be.

I loved Stone's "Untold History of the United States". Great viewing and he got a lot of things right - but he also made some leaps of imagination. Stone is an old-school liberal who lives in a world where evil bloodthirsty generals lust for war and want to send soldiers off to die. He certainly does not know General Maddog Mattis and other generals like him. It is the politicians and bureaucrats, and the powerful interests they serve, who send out troops off to die in order to make the world a safer place for the global elite to exploit and plunder.
