For hours, I've been unable to connect successfully with YouTube, and I'm seeing slow page-loading in many places, usually with reference to "googleapis.com" or "google-analytics.com" in the status bar of my browser.

I wondered if there might be a sustained DDoS attack going on, against at least parts of Google. So I went searching for 'Net sites that report on such things - and found every one I tried to access would also 'hang' while trying to reach something like 'fonts.googleapis.com' or similar.

There's a moral there, somewhere. :) It appears this much broad reliance on things provided by a central govern...uh, central provider has its downside. :)

Anyway - I don't have confirmed information that this is the effect of a sustained DDoS; might possibly be something different, some kind of traffic jam between my location and there. Dunno...
