Oh my goodness, what a difference one week makes. As the United States begins to turn back to a nation of laws from the lawlessness of 8 years of the Obama Administration, the U.S. Secret Service is beginning to go after those who threaten President-Elect Trump.
Matt Harrigan, the founder and CEO of a San Diego cyber-security firm called Packetsled, has resigned after a drunken election-night Facebook rant threatening to kill President-elect Donald Trump.
The profanity-laced rant quickly made it into the Twitter-os-phere and went viral around the world.
Although efforts were made to erase the evidence, The Daily Mail in Britain actually found low-rez images of the rampage and posted them.

“I’m going to kill the president. Elect.”
“Bring it secret service.”
“… getting a sniper rifle and perching myself where it counts. Find a bedroom in the whitehouse that suits you mother xxxxx I’ll find you.”
Well, the U.S. Secret Service did bring it. They showed up at Harrigan’s Del Mar, California home for a little 2-hour discussion.
Making such threats against the President or his successor can result in felony charges under US law.

Even if Mr. Harrigan does escape prosecution, his career has been ruined by the incident.
Packetsled – the company he founded, initially put Harrigan on administrative leave last weekend, but on Tuesday of this week – one week after the election, the company accepted Harrigan’s resignation.
According to the company:
“The PacketSled Board of Directors accepted the resignation of President and CEO Matthew Harrigan, effective immediately.”
“We want to be very clear, PacketSled does not condone the comments made by Mr. Harrigan, which do not reflect the views or opinions of the company, its employees, investors or partners.”
Here’s the point: Over the past year, those of us who have followed Trump closely have been astonished by the proliferation of similar outrageous threats across the internet – so many that we chose to ignore the because reporting on them would only encourage them, especially when there seemed never to be a consequence from the Obama-compliant version of the Secret Service.
Now, however, there is a new sheriff in town and his sworn deputies will now follow the law, not the dictates of a president who has acted more like an emperor than an elected executive.
Remember, the President of the United States heads up the Executive branch of our government. Isn’t it nice to have an actual executive in that position to drain the swamp?
