House Accuses FBI Of Allowing "Political Considerations To Hijack Criminal Process"; Demands Independent Probe

In what may have been the most actionable leak from the "Podesta Files" to date, with the exception of Hillary Clinton's Wall Street transcript excerpts, yesterday we reported that a March 17, 2015 email by Heather Samuelson, the close Hillary Clinton aide and former co-worker, detailed what may have been evidence of collusion between the State Department and the Clinton campaign. The email in question is below:

It’s 116 pages with approx. 50 sponsor/subsponsor requests. No objections by DOS in this batch, but some lengthy internal discussions among DOS officials that I highlighted below.

There is one request where speaking fee would have been paid by Turkish govt -- WJC's office declined this. And one speaking engagement with fee from Canadian government, which he did do.

Just as importantly, and as we had reported previously, Heather Samuelson, alongside Cheryl Mills, received DOJ immunity in exchange for turning over the laptop she used during the review of Clinton’s emails in 2014. Which is why we had the following question for Heather: "is this legal, and are emailed exchanges such as this one why you received DOJ immunity in exchange for "turning over your laptop"?"

It turns out we were not the only ones left wondering.

Moments ago, in a letter sent by the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Bob Goodlatte and Jason Chaffetz, the House officially requested that DOJ Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz and State Department Inspector General Steve Linick to launch a formal probe into the FBI's mishandling of the Hillary Clinton email probe because it "increasingly clear that political considerations hijacked the criminal process in this case, and routine, longstanding policies and procedures were ignored."

The catalyst for the request? The same one we voiced yesterday: why did the DOJ give Heather Samuelson immunity.
