Arnold Palmer was 87 when he died, so it would be hard to argue his death was particularly premature.

That said, I'm struck by the fact Palmer along with Kevin Nealon had recently been appearing as a spokesperson for anticoagulant drug Xarelto, generally prescribed to address non-valvular atrial fibrillation, a condition that could "throw clots". Xarelto ads featuring Palmer were often seen during major TV network broadcasts.

Also recently, on lesser broadcast networks, ads regarding legal action and possible compensation for folks who had suffered injury or death while taking Xarelto have been running.

Aspirin or NSAIDs may have precipitated the bleeding; Xarelto may have made it worse. We'll likely never know.

Palmer had checked into a hospital on Thursday or Friday and died there on Sunday, awaiting a heart-related surgery scheduled for Monday.
