I have a very common name and used to be listed with only my first two initials, so I get calls from these low-lifes all the time.

The best thing to do is not speak to them at all or they will twist what you say into making you claim a debt that isn't yours.

If you choose to speak to them, ask them to prove the debt by sending you some documentation (usually they don't have any). If it's real, they should have your mailing address. Don't give it to them or verify it for them.

*NEVER* ADMIT TO BEING IN DEBT--EVEN IF YOU ARE.

*NEVER* MAKE (OR AGREE TO MAKE) A PARTIAL PAYMENT ON A DEBT. If the debt has been written off, you will claim it and restart the clock. It will become yours.

*NEVER* GIVE THEM INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF THAT THEY DON'T HAVE OR VERIFY INFORMATION FOR THEM. *NEVER*!!!!

Beware! They DO have the power to put something on your credit report.
