This excellent actress, Gail Russell, is the film star which John Wayne's wife, Esperanza, got into a jealous fit over and tried to shoot him when he walked in the front door the night filming ended. Wayne and Russell told them they were not having an affair. I think they eventually said it in court, also.
Too bad Wayne didn't marry Gail when he divorced Esperanza. Gail died at about 36 years of age way too soon. She was in a state of malnutrition, oddly, when they found her body at her apartment. She had become a reclusive person and made very few appearances the last part of her life. I've often wondered what really happened to her.
Much of the main photography in this 1946 film was in Flagstaff and Sedona, Arizona, and Monument Valley, Utah.
