A 28-year-old woman died after falling from the balcony of her 10th-floor apartment in Worli on Saturday. Taruna Dhingra Kumar was married to Dhawal Kumar, a senior official at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch, police said. Kumar was at home when the incident took place.

Taruna, daughter of a Delhibased detergent manufacturer and wholesaler, had moved to Mumbai after marrying Kumar – an IIM-Ahmedabad and IIT-Delhi passout – last year and was residing with him at Sukhada Tower on Pochkanwala Road. The victim’s brother-in-law, Dhruv, also lived with them. Kumar is employed as an Associate in the bank’s Institutional Sales wing.

According to Worli police, a security guard on night duty was alerted by a loud crashing and sound found Taruna lying in the society’s compound in a pool of blood, and alerted Kumar over the intercom.

Kumar, who was in another room with Dhruv and two of the latter’s friends, forced the bedroom door open and saw Taruna’s body lying in the compound from the balcony. They rushed her to Nair Hospital, where she was declared dead before admission.
