SAFETY BULLETIN - 'Posting' Vehicles in Oncoming Traffic - Officer Killed Here Suffers Same M.O. This Editor Had Encountered

On the 25th of June 2015, a motorcycle police officer in San Angelo, TX. was reported killed by a vehicle that pulled in front of his oncoming line of traffic as he escorted a parade from a lake to a restaurant. Preliminary report(s) do not say whether the driver that struck the officer 'posted' and stopped or continued on, but this is similar to the incident this editor mentioned some time back when a driver pulled out like that and 'posted', stopped, with just that front quarter panel in front of this editor's path, leaving no time to even honk, brake or anything but swerve. That one appeared to be very deliberate. If a driver pulls out in front of someone immediately before the oncoming traffic approaches, it leaves almost no time to avoid collision.

In this recent case of the dead officer it appears at least suspicious. One must wonder what the woman with her passenger was doing or thinking when she pulled out in front of the officer. Drugs or alcohol? Or, when did people become so self-involved that they failed to consider the safety of others? When did a shopping trip or other outing blot out the concern for preventing accidents and deaths.

U.S. drivers need to be on the alert for this 'posting' phenomenon to happen in other parts of the U.S. as well. It could be deliberate, but if drivers are so impaired by lack of sleep, or drugs or alcohol that they pull out in front of oncoming traffic, then they are way beyond impaired. They are next to incapacitated. Are satellites and satellite tracking causing this and was satellite tracking responsible for this officer's unnecessary death.

This editor shares the sentiments of others that drivers who kill people by 'posting' or pulling out in front of oncoming traffic should be held criminally responsible for such deaths and injuries.
