Per Wikipedia: "More than 50,000 children in Yemen died from starvation in 2017. The famine in Yemen is the direct result of the Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen and blockade of Yemen."

Also: "Concurrently, a coalition led by Saudi Arabia launched military operations by using air strikes to restore the former Yemeni government. Although there was no direct intervention by Iran, who support the Houthis, the conflict has been widely seen as an extension of the Iran–Saudi Arabia proxy conflict and as a means to combat Iranian influence in the region."

I think none of us has a clear understanding of what this conflict is about or of who's wearing the white hat and who's wearing the black hat. And I don't know why Trump saw fit to veto the congressional resolution or why Congress then did not override the veto - something to do with supporting an ally in the area, perhaps.

But it does sound as though if the US were to withdraw, it would not do much to help the Yemeni people. Presumably Saudi Arabia and the local countries it brought together in a coalition would continue with their efforts.

Please, [E.,] you love Trump, so tell him to withdraw troops from Yemen where U.S. and Saudi Arabia have created a humanitarian crisis, killing thousands, and hundreds of thousands are starving.
