In 1988, tobacco heiress and billionaire Doris Duke bailed Shoe Lady a.k.a Imelda Marcos out of jail by plunking down $5 million. Mrs. Marcos, who was staying in a $1,800-a-day suite at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, did not attend the court session.

Marcos was charged with fraud and racketeering in New York for allegedly joining her late husband, former now-dead Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos, in looting their country’s treasury of more than $200 million and using some of the funds to purchase skyscrapers and another real estate in the Big Apple. Ferdinand was the 10th president of the Philippines.

Imelda and Doris were “close personal friends” who talked often. Both ladies were legendary when it came to shady stuff.

The richest woman in America until her death in 1993, Doris was described as a “mercurial, vindictive tobacco heiress who literally got away with murder.”

Interestingly, in 2001, long after Doris’ death, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, SUED Imelda Marcos in the district of Hawaii in 2001.

The suit involves none other than Anthony S. Fauci, listing him as Vice-Chair on the board of trustees, starting in 1995...

Interest accrued and when the Shoe Lady did not cough up any dough, the suit was extended in 2011. By then two of the plaintiffs had resigned. And a 3rd one was dead.

#FauciFraud remains on the board. The amount owed is now at about $10 MILLION. The extension remains in place until April 17, 2021
