Avenatti's bad day: Evicted from office, ordered to pay $4.85M to former employee

Porn star lawyer Michael Avenatti suffered two court losses on Monday, including one that saw a judge order him to pay $4.85 million to a former lawyer who argued he was underpaid.

Shortly after that ruling from a California judge, another judge ruled that Avenatti and his staff must be evicted from their suite office at Fashion Island mall after they missed four months worth of rent payments.

In the first case, Superior Court Judge Dennis Landin said Avenatti had to personally pay the $4.85 million because he guaranteed a settlement with former employee, Jason Frank, the Associated Press reported.

Landin turned down Avenatti’s request to have the case moved to federal court before making his ruling. Frank’s legal representation said the tactic was an attempt to delay the ruling.

The law firm was previously ordered to pay $10 million to Frank, but the $4.85 million owed by Avenatti is the first time he is being held personally liable in the case, in which Frank has said he was owed millions after the firm misstated its profits.

Avenatti, who represents porn star Stormy Daniels and has not yet made a decision on whether or not he will make a run for the White House in 2020, told the AP that Frank owes him $12 million “for his fraud,” without offering any further explanation.

Daniels’ defamation lawsuit against Trump was dismissed last week, and Avenatti appealed the ruling.
