(National Sentinel) Treason: The former top lawyer for the FBI told congressional investigators last week during testimony that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was actually serious when, last year, he suggested secretly recording POTUS Donald Trump and getting Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to have him removed from office.

Fox News reports that the ex-attorney’s account differs from the of Rosenstein’s, the latter of whom has denied the allegations:

Former FBI General Counsel James A. Baker told congressional investigators during a closed-door deposition last week that then-FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe and FBI lawyer Lisa Page came to Baker “contemporaneously” after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017. Baker said Page and McCabe relayed details of the meeting where Rosenstein made the comments.

Though he wasn’t personally in that meeting, Baker told congressional investigators he took McCabe and Page’s account “seriously,” the sources said. Further, Baker told congressional investigators he suspected “Rosenstein was coordinating with two people in the administration to invoke the 25th Amendment,” a source said.

Baker, whose testimony was described as deliberate and sober, added he had not done a legal analysis and was unsure whether it was “unethical or illegal,” the source added.

The New York Times first reported the details behind Rosenstein’s scheme. The paper said that Rosenstein shared those plans with “other Justice Department and FBI officials,” who of course gave the paper their details anonymously (likely McCabe and Page).

During meetings in July 2017, Rosenstein allegedly made the explosive suggestion to other Justice Department and FBI officials that someone secretly record POTUS. The scheme never materialized, but according to the Times Rosenstein told then-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe he thought it would be possible to flip Attorney General Jeff Sessions and then-Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, now chief of staff, to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Initially following the Times report, Rosenstein was scheduled to meet the president at the White House to discuss the allegations, but that was during the tumultuous time of the Justice Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, so the meetings were put off.

However, Rosenstein met with the president for 45 minutes aboard Air Force One enroute to a police conference in recent days. Asked about the meeting, POTUS said it went “great” and that he had no plans to let Rosenstein go, Fox News noted.

The question is if Baker is to be believed — and some lawmakers apparently do — now what? Doesn’t POTUS Trump have to fire Rosenstein, though he just said he has no intention of doing so?

Or maybe Attorney General Jeff Sessions will step up and do it?

There’s no way POTUS can keep Rosenstein at Justice if the allegations against him are true. Now it’s just a matter of figuring out how to let him go and who’s going to do it — and when (like after the midterms).
