Does the Patriot win signify a losing year for the markets? It seems that at least in 80% of the years where a team from the AFC wins the super bowl the market suffers financial loss for the year.

It certainly would seem that with all the economic greasing of the skids that has been done since December, a downward slide toward the cliff for the coming year would be a no-brainer.

DEFINITION of 'Super Bowl Indicator'

One economic indicator is based on the belief that a Super Bowl win for a team from the old AFL (AFC division) foretells a decline in the stock market for the coming year, and a win for a team from the old NFL (NFC division) means the stock market will be up for the year.
