Most people heard of “Xerxes” the Persian king who attacked Greece out of revenge for his father's defeat at Marathon.

The “Immortals” of Xerxes and his allies faced the Spartans a few years later after the Persian's defeat at Marathon. This is also well known to people. The “300”.

However, it is not well known that Xerxes couldn't defeat the Spartans, until....Ephialtes betrayed the Spartans. Even fewer know what happened to Ephialtes after his betrayal.

Ephialtes wanted gold for his betrayal of the Spartans, which Xerxes promised to him and in a sense Ephialtes got it. Unfortunately for him, after the victory over the Spartans, the Persians suffered defeat again. Xerxes ordered to skin alive Ephialtes and stuff the gold he wanted into his skin.
