THE OTHER POSSIBILITY IS THAT THE INDIVIDUAL WAS SIMPLY KIDNAPPED AND HELD IN PRISON THAT LOOKS LIKE EARTH, UNTIL RANSOM PAID OR THE INDIVIDUAL SOLD. THIS SCENARIO MAKES MUCH MORE SENSE.

One of the “Outer Limits” episodes exploited the possibility that we are on a spaceship, kidnapped and tricked by some “galactic merchants” who are transporting the “willing” humans to a marketplace where they will be sold.
