Why I have a doubt about a "huge explosion" at the CERN LHC
CERN has 2,500 employees. If they suddenly had to spend 7 months rebuilding the ring, they'd have to report something officially. Remember the time some rodent (allegedly) shorted out a transformer and caused a power failure that shut down the LHC? They had to come up with a story that time and it was a much smaller incident.
Also, the alleged circumstances make no sense. The magnets around the ring are all head-to-toe, and there is no room to insert 1800 more, or whatever the story said. The big upgrade they did a few years ago involved replacing ALL the magnets with new more powerful ones. You can't just plug in a few extra. There's no place to put them.
Speaking of opening interdimensional portals to allow beings of unspeakable evil to enter our universe, I was very upset when SyFy cancelled Dark Matter just when the plot line had the protagonists in the show accidentally doing that. Allegedly the cancellation the show was because it too expensive, and/or SyFy wasn't making enough money off it because they didn't develop it in house, or something like that.
The Black Ships come...(Final scene from Dark Matter S2E13, then they cancel the series after this gigantic cliffhanger)
