I hear you Essie. My son graduated with an advanced computer degree and has to fight to earn a living wage. Most of the great IT jobs were given to H1B workers from India or China..

It seems as if there are no entry level jobs left for our young kids either. When I was a teen I worked at Baskin Robbins but today's service jobs are being filled with immigrants who barely speak English. I agree about the construction jobs, also. Roofers are all immigrants, Drywallers, Painters, landscapers, carpenters etc.. There was a job fair outside of Atlanta and over 75% of the applicants spoke little or no English. Is it any wonder there are few jobs??

I just love the idea of jobs. Pray tell where are they? In any city across our country announce job opening and people will camp out waiting in line to get it. Where are all these wonderful jobs? We have kids today filling our universities going into debt to qualify for jobs that Don't exist. I see kids who have masters degrees working in starbucks. Not just bachelor of arts but real science engineering and business degrees ,yet they can not get jobs that do not exist. Most either work in other countries are live at home with their parents.

I am 72 years old and had the privilege to work with just a high school diploma and never was not able to have a living wage.Bought my first home before my 20 birthday. The difference between than and now is by design all manufacturing jobs have been given away to other countries ,by greedy coroperations who put their own profits before th people. As long as wealth goes it is only for the 1% while the 99% struggle to keep the basic and most are less than a couple of paydays away from losing that. So your dream of work is not offered to the average man and woman on the street. And most jobs now in California is held by illegal hispanics. Any construction sight , office state county or federal building are mostly staffed by these people. Not Anglos not Asians or black even cal trans. Even every public garden garbage truck is Hispanic. They have even made them jobs pulling weeds from the cracks in the sidewalks.while no one else can find or make a job.
