The magnitude 4.9 quake occurred at 4:18:24 a.m. EST today Thursday November 30, 2017 in the Sea of Japan north of Hiroshima and east of the border between the Koreas.

It is the largest in that area since a magnitude 4.9 at 1:38 p.m. EST March 16, 2012. A stronger 5.2 quake hit north of there at 1:48 p.m. EST February 5, 2010 and then the next biggest before then was at 4:24 a.m. EST on Friday 8 August 2008 the same day as:
