Which story do you prefer. Most likely it will be the one you were told when young.

Most religions try to answer where we came from, why we are here and where we are going. They’re just stories, some more fanciful than others.

If you were lucky, you were spared a story and just got on with life. If you weren’t quite as lucky, you dumped their story and then got on with life.

Probably the best stories are the ones that must be taken on faith, which is to say, “Just believe it, since there’s no proof.” At least those stories tell you the truth right up front: It’s fiction–not particularly good fiction, though billions of copies were and are sold.

People must like stories, particularly their own, not so much someone else’s, “My story is true; yours is not.”

What would the world be like without creation stories? BETTER.

On the other elbow, creation stories do give people answers, not particularly good answers, but answers, and it gives purpose and meaning to their lives, after-all, who does not like seeing four different-faith-preachers in one room armed to the teeth (nearly every fundamental believer...you think?).

And it’s true when religionists say that without a story, life is meaningless, worthless, of no value, void of meaning, without purpose, and everyone would go bonkers and kill each other because there would be no moral imperatives because without a story people can’t see the effect of a cause, and can’t treat each other with respect, and can’t tell what is harmful or beneficial, and certainly can’t be loving, charitable, kind, gentle and merciful, and can’t see the harmful effects of greed, vanity, pride and selfishness.

Humans are so stupid that without a story they would end up killing each other, go to war and destroy the planet just before they genocide each other.

“Ya gotta believe in something or life is not worth living.”
