Rich, a good friend of mine has the same problem. He hires for his warehouse and them finds out they can barely read or take any kind of direction... Some simply get a job for a few weeks so the welfare office gets off their backs.. Then they quit, after a month.. The job isn't hard at all! Simply going down rows and pulling products off selves to match the orders coming in by numbers.

This is a serious issue. As an example, I once hired a man for a warehouse labor job that could not read! He had a high school diploma, so I automatically assumed he could read and write. He was unable to follow lists of things to do. Not even going into instructions about safety here, that's a related thing. My boss, a fanatical rabid liberal, saw no problem. Wow

In some places, they are just passing kids to the next grade, not holding them back. I don't know how prevalent this. When I'm driving on the interstate, I wonder if the truckers are able to read road signs and warnings and have their 18 wheel rig in proper order. Think about that. They may have 80,000 lbs of cargo in their rig. This literacy issue extends to many areas and often involves safety
