Reader: Trump Reads A Law So Simple Even Most Federal Judges Can Understand It
Referencing the statute defining the rights of the President to act to restrict immigration, President Trump said, “You could be a lawyer or you don’t have to be a lawyer. If you were a good student in high school or a bad student in high school you can understand this. He added, “And it’s really incredible to me, and noted that they “are interpreting things differently than probably 100% of the people in this room.”
The statute is titled Suspension of Entry or Imposition of Restrictions by the President. It states, in part, “He may, by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens.” He points to the clarity of the language and says, “again, a bad high school student would understand this.” That’s quite true but President Trump is forced to deal with liberals who are, despite their positions of power, far less capable of logical, rational, coherent thought than a bad high school kid.
He continues, “Or any class of aliens, as immigrants or non-immigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.” Having made it abundantly clear that he is operating within the scope of his authority, President Trump summarizes, saying, “Okay, so you can suspend, you can put restrictions, you can do whatever you want. And this is for the security of the country, which, again, you’re the chiefs, you’re the sheriffs, you understand this.”
He notes how the lawyers arguing on both sides the previous night were talking about things that were irrelevant to the issue at hand. He says he won’t comment on the statements made by “certainly one judge” on their panel, noting, “but I have to be honest that, if these judges wanted to, in my opinion, help the court in terms of respect for the court, they’d do what they should be doing.”
President Trump says, “And it’s so sad, they should be, you know when you read something so simple and so beautifully written and so perfectly written…and then you have lawyers, and I watched last night in amazement. And I heard things that I couldn’t believe. He closes saying, “It would be so great for our justice system if they were able to read a statement and do what’s right.”
