"If I could, I would roll back the wheel of time" she commented yesterday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel commented results of local elections in Berlin, where her party the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) achieved the worst result in history.

Chancellor Merkel has also, the first time yesterday, acknowledged her own mistakes in the immigrant politics and distanced herself from her mantra "we will succeed", which she in the past 12 and a half months, repeatedly repeated referring to the successful integration of refugees and migrants. The phrase "Wir das schaffen (We'll make it)" yesterday she did not dare even to mention.

- You can not just give protection to hundreds of thousands of people. It can be quickly said, but can not be implemented quickly - it is self-critical, which is totally atypical to Merkel, Chancellor commented.
Merkel admitted that she criticized herself that she "too long relied on the Dublin regulation," which is supposed to protect the external borders of the EU.

Merkel admitted that Germany by opening of its borders has lost control of the immigration wave.

Now the Chancellor has announced that she will fight that such situation does not happen again.

The reason for addressing the German public was disastrous result of her CDU in local elections in Berlin - CDU received only 17.6 percent, which is 5.7 percent less than in the elections of 2011. Number of CDU seats fell from 39 to 31, so that the Christian Democrats will no longer participate in government in coalition with the Social Democrats.

SPD remained the strongest party in Berlin, but also lost a lot of votes so that the SPD and the CDU can no longer have a majority. Their accounts was thwarted by populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party which was first performed in Berlin in the elections and got 14.2 percent of the votes and won 25 seats.
