The actors in 'The Seven-Ups', Richard Lynch, Roy Scheider, etc., in the video clip are involved in a police pursuit. Lynch's character is the fleeing passenger in the lead vehicle, Scheider in the rear pursuit vehicle.

Do not try this at home or anyplace. Losing your own life may be bad enough, but in such real life situations everyone in the path of or near the pursuit is at risk of injury or death. When vehicles suddenly go out of control they can and do go airborne! Airborne means loss of traction and then the vehicle becomes a real heavy projectile!

The bar is supposed to help prevent the shearing off effect of vehicles striking the rear of tractor-trailer units, etc..
