Director of the Center for Euro-Atlantic Studies in Serbia (CEAS) Jelena Milic said that she and CEAS will continue to advocate for the rule of law and fundamental freedoms, regardless of threats and pressures by certain media which exposed the non-governmental organizations.

Milic at a conference in Belgrade Media Center said that the CEAS will continue to implement all the projects they are involved in, and that will continue to "implement institutional support" they have from George Soros Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, of which they are very proud.

"The support of the rule of law and human rights and the rights of non-violent struggle must be not hidden. We are proud to be part of it, and none of this we hide - all data are on the site long ago," Milic said.

At a conference CEAS she invited just a few media, because she, as she said, can, because her organization is not a public one and does not have to answer to all the questions.

According to her, the motive for such a decision are not only signs and pressures directed at her and her organization, but also cases like that of director of the NGO in Montenegro MANS Vanja Ćalović and the protector of citizens Sasa Jankovic.

She said she does not want to respond to those who are part of "Putin's propaganda machine," part of "hybrid war he waged against the achievement of modern contemporary West".

Jelena Milic added that the achievements of the modern West she would like to see in Serbia and that her organization is committed to that.

Milic at the conference said that, a few months ago, she repelled police protection because they do not believe in it, or do not see the purpose of it after the demolition of buildings in the Belgrade district of Savamala, when, as she said, for a few hours was suspended the rule of law.

Legal representative of the CEAS Judita Popović said that the newspapers and social networks have a lots of comments against Jelena Milic which incites violence, for which she filed several criminal charges, but about not a one they have yet received a response.

"What kind of state are we when it can not protect those whose rights are violated," she said Popović.

She also said that the failure to call at a conference all the media is act of public protest and the message that the freedom of expression in Serbia is significantly compromised, which means that there is a problem with democracy.
