CLEVELAND — Here in Ohio campaigning for the White House, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took some time out of her campaign schedule to met with musician Paul McCartney.

After a rally at a Cleveland high school, Mrs. Clinton made a brief detour to the Quicken Loans Arena to meet privately with the legendary musician.

Mr. McCartney, a member of the Beatles who went on to have a long solo career, is playing two-night stand at the Quicken Loans Arena as part of his One on One Tour.

“They talked about the race, their families, and the Olympics, among other topics,” according to a campaign aide, who said they met privately about 30 minutes. Mrs. Clinton congratulated Mr. McCartney on the UK success at the Rio Olympics, the aide said.

It’s not the first time Mrs. Clinton and Mr. McCartney have been spotted together. The two were photographed together at a Kennedy Center awards in 2010.

Mrs. Clinton held a rally at a local high school earlier in the day. She’s also attending a fundraising event.
